Waistcoat and Graffiti

Detroit, MI has always been known as the automative capital of the world. The city has seen a steady economic decline over the last decades, including a file for bankruptcy just a few years ago. As a result more and more buildings, monuments and landmarks continue to close and become abandoned – opening up the door for street art and graffiti. A new culture and community that is taking over the city.  Crumbling brick walls are turning into masterpieces. Abandoned warehouses are turning into urban art galleries. The once “Motor City” is now being given a second chance by street artist looking to restore pride and hope to their home.

I spent the day on Saint Anne’s Street in Downtown Detroit. I got to walk along a wall of artwork just below the train tracks and couldn’t get enough of the vibrant colors and designs. Who would have thought a broken city could be restore with so much life.

I’ve been feeling very dapper lately. The summer heats up quickly in Detroit so I ditched the blazer and opted for a waistcoat. This smart style is one of my go-to’s during the summer season.
