There’s always more than one way to wear a garment in your closet. The idea is to get creative and expand your wardrobe beyond the “traditional” way of styling a look. Early this year, I shared my thoughts and style tips on the tuxedo shirt. Most of you are probably familiar with the garment or at least know that it is a formal shirt, generally paired with a tuxedo suit, and worn to black tie events. But, who said that you were only allowed to wearing the tuxedo shirt in a formal setting? I’ve never been one to welcome “traditional” style so, for me, the tux shirt is a garment used to level up a casual business look to a sexy chic look.

I can’t stress it enough – one of my favorite things about suiting is it’s endless possibilities. Today’s ensemble is nothing new. You have seen me wear these trousers and/or the complete suit several times. This season, I’ve started to incorporate a lot more pops of color, like this red blazer, into my daily wardrobe. In fact, just the other day, I was shopping with a family friend who loves monochromatic, basic style. As a young fashionista, he wanted to know how to take that specific style to the next level. My advice was simple – whether it be your jacket, shirt, sneakers, or socks, add a bold pop of color to your ensemble. For example: today’s black and white look is sophisticated and chic all by itself, but the eye catching red blazer takes the ensemble to a whole other level.

It’s simply folks. Stop over shopping, identify the pieces in your closet that you love the most, and make those the focal point from which you create. If you scroll through my Instagram feed, you’ll notice that that’s exactly what I do. I’m constantly challenging myself to make the most of what I have by getting creative. My challenge to you, change the way you look at your closet.
