Our Relaxing Weekend at the Sea Containers London

To ring in the New Year, my wife and I spent a relaxing two-nights at the Sea Containers London.

We believe that one of the keys to a successful and long lasting relationship is spending quality time together. Sharing those precious moments of laughter, silence, cuddles, sometimes deep conversation and even just Netflix and chillin’ are how you really get to know somebody and are able to develop an even more loving and satisfying bond.

Sea Containers London

If you’re looking for a property that is luxurious, safe, and inclusive with break-taking views of London, you have to check out the Sea Containers London.

The Sea Containers London is situated in a perfect location. The hotel is on the Upper Ground and South Bank of the River Thames. From day to night, the Sea Containers London moves seamlessly from an atmosphere filled with natural light to a moody yet electric space illuminated with warm and neon lights. This ultra-chic property offers something for everyone!

The Lyaness is a vibrant and glamorous bar that looks out over the Thames. Enjoy drinks there or pop up to their rooftop and have cocktails at 12th Knot bar which offers an amazing panoramic view of centre stage. Even better, check out my personal favorite space, the Curzon Cinema with movie screens showing on Friday and Saturday.

No matter what you’re looking for or in the mood to do you can rest assured that the Sea Containers London, with its close proximity to museums, shopping areas, the Royals, amazing markets, and food offers a great location.  Step outside of the hotel and take in some fresh air on the River Thames then head east or west for a 20-30 minute walk to just about everything!

Our Riverview Balcony Suite

While The Sea Containers London has so much to offer we decided to unplug, unwind, and just relax in our Riverview Balcony Suite.  This suite offered the perfect escape! We had ceiling to floor windows with unparalleled views of London. The open plan setting, a fully furnished private balcony, and our favorite, a luxuriously oversized marble bathroom that included a free-standing bath and rainfall shower. When we weren’t pampering ourselves with face masks or soaking in the tub, we were indulging in their superb room service or sipping an evening drink while taking in the seasonably warm weather and an indomitable skyline view.

Sea Containers Restaurant

The only thing that will get us out of the room during a staycation is food! The hotel treated us to an amazing complimentary 3-course dinner at their signature restaurant, the Sea Containers Restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the hotel. The restaurant felt keenly relaxed and inclusive plus they offer an all-day dining experience with stunning views of the River Thames.

Our server was attentive and engaging, offering suggestions throughout our meal! We christened the night with a bottle of Sancerre, which paired perfectly with our first dish – their Ceviche Tacos. If you’re a seafood lover, like myself, and someone who also loves tacos, I highly recommend this mouthwatering dish. We ordered two large plates for our main dishes – the Orecchiette and the Cod. The Orecchiette is definitely a dish that can be shared, however, in my opinion, the Cod is the perfect size dish for one.

I love sweets whereas my wife prefers more savory dishes so choosing a dessert is always a struggle for us. I was torn between the Key Lime Pie and the Chocolate Brownie, but when my wife said she was full, I opted for the Fruit Salad instead. It was the safer choice, but honestly, I was full and just needed a little something to satisfy my sweet-tooth.

Walk Along the Thames

One of the things that my wife and I love about being back in London is our urge to take long walks. We thoroughly enjoy ones after dinner. This time we took a long stroll across the BlackFriar Bridge.  The lights twinkled on the river and the views were so beautiful. The lights from Sea Containers London shone around, above, and on the river plus we were able to see the London Eye glowing brightly in the distance. London is really beautiful during the day but it has such an awesome charm to it at night.

There’s so much more that I could share about our amazing experience but I don’t want to spoil it too much for future travelers.
