2×1 Double Breasted Suit

New season, new suit, new style and I don’t just mean the print. For the first time, I have decided to step away from my go-to 4×2 double breast suit to create a 2×1 suit. The classic and popular 4×2 double breasted button configuration consists of 2 top decorative buttons and 2 bottom functional buttons. To help keep the structure and shape of the blazer always keep the middle inner button (called the anchor) fastened. Typically, and traditionally, the bottom button is left undone. Generally, I’m not one to following traditions, but aesthetically speaking, this is a tradition I agree with. The 2×1 double breasted suit consists of 2 functional buttons: the anchor, which helps keep the structure and the outer button fully closes the blazer. Overall, the major difference in the 2×1 suit vs the 4×2 is the removal of the 2 top decorative buttons.

Bold Stripes

A few months ago, I asked you all what style suit you thought I should create this season – bold stripes or prints. 90% of you said bold stripes. Around that same time, I was in the process of creating this striped 2×1 double breasted suit so, it was dope to see that you all felt the same way.

It’s been a while since I’ve custom made a suit as bold and powerful as this one. From the red and black stripes to the peak lapel, 2×1 buttons, and 2 inch pant cuff, everything little detail is rich and captivating, which is also why I kept the look simple. A black tee, socks, and monochromatic Dr. Martens allowed for the suit to be the focal point of the look. No need for extra prints or details with a suit like this. Don’t forget, simplicity is key!
