Cherry Red Turtleneck

Wool Pinstripe Suit

One of the coziest, most versatile garments that I suggest adding to your Fall/Winter wardrobe is the turtleneck. It’s easy to wear and guaranteed to elevate just about any ensemble. There are variety of styles options to shop from, it all depends on how you present and what’s most comfortable for you.

My style is androgynous or masculine presenting so, I prefer the men’s classic fitted merino or chunky cotton cowl neck. As of late, my partner has been introducing me to a variety of alternatives for people that prefer a more feminine fit like the funnel/mock neck, turtleneck dress, and elongated turtleneck with cut out shoulders. Who knew (inserts emoji shrug) lol?!

Before I dive deep into today’s outfit. Here’s some turtleneck outfit inspiration for both masculine and feminine presenting individuals.

As my style continues to evolve, I find myself gravitating more and more towards a timeless wardrobe. The classic suit, shirt, and tie combo will always be an option, but I rarely feel the need to conform to the heteronormative style of dressing. Finding new ways to wear a suit or shirt and tie is one of my favorite things to do. The smallest detail, such as the turtleneck, can change the entire look. Don’t get confused, I’m not the originator of this sleek, more modern look. I’m simply finding new ways of making it my own. Pairing a red turtleneck with a drop-crotch wool suit is a start, don’t you think?

It’s been a while since I last wore my wool drop crotch suit as a complete set. This piece is made of 100% wool so its not exactly summer friendly so I wear it often in the colder months. This is a suit that Shao and I created whereby we both decided to deviate away from traditional suiting by exploring jackets with removable lapels and drop crotch trousers. For this look, I removed the black lapel that was originally created for the suit. The grey and black pinstripe suit is bold and powerful so no need for the contrasting lapel. In fact, the extra lapel would have been a distraction and would have taken away from the red turtleneck, which is the focal point of the look. Too many patterns and accessories can create a convoluted look, so find a stable piece and build around it. Again to not take away from the bold look, I slipped on a pair of brown suede Chelsea boots. The final touch, a Mac jacket. The perfect layering item for unpredictable weather.

Stay tuned, more turtleneck looks coming your way 🙂
