There are so many little steps that go into creating a custom suit. Picking out the right fabric, texture, print, lining, buttons, cuffs or no cuffs. The list goes on and on. I’m always testing the limits when it comes to how bold I want to be, but for Pitti Uomo I wanted to make a statement.
Turquoise and navy check with lavender details seemed like perfect choice for Day 2. It is bold and different. Turquoise isn’t a color you would typically see a suit made in. It might be the detailed pop in the pinstripes or windowpane, or even as a seasonal color, but it is rarely a complete suit.
I chose a single breasted notched lapel jacket with cuffed pants. The print was so bold on it’s own that I didn’t feel the need to go double breasted. I lined the interior of the jacket with blue lining and lavender piping. The two colors added a nice contrast against the turquoise.
Now for the deeds… A lavender button down to compliment the details of the suit and a multicolored tie with all of the colors in one. I slipped on my single monk Tods with tassels and grabbed my new Persol sunnies.
I don’t think the men of Pitti were quite ready for what a girl like myself could pull off.
But hey.. I love the challenge of breaking the rules!
