Pop culture and the growing digital world have become go-to sources of inspiration for fashion and lifestyle. As a men’s suit connoisseur, my wardrobe has been heavily inspired by European fashion. The streets of Italy, London, and Paris, and trade shows like Pitti Uomo are the quintessential locations of tailored suiting.
New York City’s Transit Museum is home to vintage trains preserved and brought back to life inside a 1936 subway station. I decided to take my inspiration for European fashion on a ride to a different place in time.
As of late, I’ve been working on creating more editorial and thought provoking work. I try to create content that is educational while also telling a story that inspires others to share their own journey. Too often, we become preoccupied with what others are doing instead of just living our own lives.
Expanding Your Wardrobe By Getting Creative
One of my favorite things about a suit is its versatility while seemingly creating multiple options within one’s wardrobe. Your wardrobe should be fun. It’s not about how many pieces are in your closet. It’s all about getting creative with what you own. Suiting opens the door to endless possibilities.
Last winter, Shao (The Tailory New York) created this single-breasted turquoise gingham suit for my trip to Pitti Uomo. I’ve worn it so many different ways, but this look is by far my favorite.
Dark tones, shadow play, and golden lights creates the perfect combination to invoke a moody story.
I decided to wear the complete suit for a bold statement. To maintain the 1900s inspired theme, I incorporated a few pieces that were once stables of men’s fashion: a suit vest and top hat. Each piece helped to elevate the ensemble and tell a more compelling story.
Don’t be afraid to be creative and use your imagination. I promise you that your closet doesn’t need more piece. Your wardrobe is simply waiting for you to step outside of the box and start expressing yourself.
