Hey all,
Sorry for being MIA, but Pride Month was insane!!!!! I can only imagine how crazy next year is going to be since New York City is the official host of World Pride. I’m getting anxious thinking about it.
Any who… I’m really excited to catch up on the blog. Don’t get me wrong, I love connecting with you all in real time on social media, but I don’t always enjoy being on social platforms. So much can get lost in a single post especially when you factor in the constant changes to algorithm (system). All of the changes to Instagram are annoying especially the order in which you see a post. How do they know what we want to see? The constant changes to the platform is leading to stressed, depression, and other mental health issues for many people.
When I first started blogging, I used Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter as tools to drive traffic to my blog. Over the last year, I’ve found myself playing tug of war with Instagram. Sometimes I’m posting to drive traffic to my blog and other times I feel like I have to post to stay relevant amongst other influencers. It’s really unfortunate the level of control this one platform has over us. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anything to have so much control that it effects my mental health. I constantly having to remind myself that Instagram doesn’t define me. It doesn’t matter whether or not my grid is pretty, tons of people like my images, or every post is a campaign. She’s a Gent has always been a outlet to celebrate and explore personal style. I am BLESSED to have a platform that serves as a source of inspiration for so many.
Thank you for all of your support.
