Before taking off in the new Lexus NX300, the Lexus associate emphasized how much I would enjoy driving the new model. He said, “this car is so smooth that you won’t even feel how fast you accelerate.” He wasn’t lying! I tried my best to drive the speed limited, but every now and then my heavy foot prevailed and before I knew it I was having to literally take my foot off the pedal to slow down. Apart from the smooth ride, one of my favorite updates to the car is the interior. The spacious seating, driver assistance features, and entertainment system definitely made for a luxurious experience.
New Adventures
My entire world was consumed with basketball until a few years ago. Nothing excited me more growing up than knowing that Fall was the start of basketball season. In those days during the fall, the last thing on my mind was pumpkins and apples! Now, as a retired athlete, when Fall comes around, I look forward to learning about and experiencing all the outdoor activities that I missed or wasn’t interested in as a kid.
To kick off Fall, my partner and I took a road trip in the new 2018 Lexus NX300 to Massachusetts. Side note – I don’t think I’ve ever shared this, but my partner, her mother, and younger brother relocated to Boston when she was eight years old. Since then, she’s called Boston home. It’s also quickly becoming my second home! Now back to what I was originally saying… we headed to Boston so that I could experience the beginning stages of Fall, which, to my delight, included beautifully colored leaves, lots of hot chocolate, and my new found favorite thing, apple picking!
New England Fall
There must have been at least a thousand people at the orchards when we got there. I couldn’t believe it! People drove from all over New England to pick the biggest pumpkins and juiciest apples, and, of course indulge in some freshly made apple cider donuts. I don’t blame them! I turned into a a big kid as soon as we stepped out of the car. We wondered through the apple orchards picking Macintosh, Cortland, and Honey Crisp apples until our bag overflowed. We picked so many apples that I ended up having to go back to the car to drop them off because we were dropping them along the way to the apple crumble, ice cream and donut line. About that – although this was my favorite part of the day, I won’t dare try to describe it, but only because my culinary vocabulary is not on point enough yet to do the apple crumble with ice cream and donut experience justice! So, the pictures will have to suffice! Let’s just say, I allowed myself to be a greedy kid with no limits.
My kick off to Fall was the best!
