The combat boot was a staple in my father’s wardrobe. I have vivid childhood memories of visiting my dad, wherever we were stationed at the time, during the summer and winter months, and seeing him dressed in his infamous U.S. Marine uniform and military boots.
Naturally, when you’re around something or see it on repeat you start to grow fond of it. So, it’s no surprise why I’ve always been attracted to a military-style combat boot. While I don’t think that the ‘military combat boot’ is something that you should run out and buy, I do think that a combat boot style is a style of shoe that can elevate your wardrobe.
A combat boot is such a great staple to add to your Fall/Winter wardrobe. Thanks to the tall silhouette, fully laced design, and chunky outsole the combat boot makes a distinctive and unique statement to both casual and dapper ensembles.
A Casual Look at the Combat Boot
I find myself owning sophisticated yet still casual styles more and more these days. Don’t get me wrong, I love a tailored suit, but elevated casual wear can be just as empowering and impactful as sartorial style. The key is to decide on your focal point. Today that is the combat boot.
I wanted to put together a simple look that also made people go “hmm, I didn’t think of that.”
Once I had the shoes down, I went straight to my sweaters. This merino wool sweater complimented the rich wheat colorway of the boots perfectly! I layered the sweater on top of a cream turtleneck for some added warmth and paired the two with a medium grey pair of lightly distressed jeans still keeping the focus on the boots and sweater. Also, I purposefully cuffed my jeans just above my laces to show off the fully-laced design and long lasting metal zipper. Remember, “the devils in the details” so show them off!
She’s a Gent Reminders
As I always like to remind y’all… remember that your style doesn’t have to be big and bold. It also doesn’t have to be “on trend.” Your style should uniquely and especially reflect reflect you!
Hopefully by being true to ourselves and our own style then we can also inspire others to tap into their personal style on their own.
