I’m starting to think that I should create a column highlighting my trips to Boston because it seems like we visit Bean Town at least once a month.
A week ago, my partner and I got to test drive the new 2019 Lexus UX 200 Luxury on our trip to Boston. The new model is a hybrid between the Lexus Sedan and SUV. The ride is smooth, equip with the standard Lexus features like a touch navigation bar, heated seats, and side censor alerts notifying you of when people or cars are too close to the vehicle. The Luxury isn’t as spacious as the SUV model, but the trunk was just the right size for our weekend getaway.
Rock and Roll
This trip to Boston was a special one. As I’ve shared before, my partner is originally from London. Her mother and brother relocated to Boston when she was around eight years ago. She was very close to her father so the move was tough at times, but she got to see Geoff fairly often because he was always on tour in the U.S. But over the years, as life happens, they saw each other less and less, so it was really exciting when his band, Procol Harum, announced their U.S. tour and we were able to see a few of the shows. It just so happened that the final show was in Boston so she was able to see him perform and also spend time with her mother and childhood friends.
For those of you who don’t know, Procol Harum is an English band that was formed in the 60s. The band is best known for their 1967 hit single “A Whiter Shade of Pale”, one of the bands few singles with over 10 million copies sold. My partners father has been a drummer for the band for about 10 years. Over the course of his career, he has performed with musical greats like Van Morrison, Jermaine Jackson, Incognito, Sting, and Ray Charles.
Geoff Dunn is known as one of the world’s greatest groove drummers and after my first time seeing him perform, I instantly saw why. Behind his basic black t-shirt and blue jeans, lies the most swaggy, funky, talented musician around. Check out this throwback clip of him going ham on the drums and, if you’re ever in London, look him up and see whether he has any gigs.
