The Renaissance at The MET

The Renaissance Era is one of, if not, my favorite periods in history. The style of artwork that emerged during the 14th century in Italy is some of the most beautiful work that I’ve ever learned about.  Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Raphael were Italian masters of their craft. These genius’ are the reason I fell in love with Italy at a young age.

A week ago, I took a trip to The Met Museum and instantly fell in love all over again. While in the Renaissance Gallery, I felt as if I was in another country. Every hall and piece were so romantic and full of life. My friend and photographer Kim (@thestreetsensei) made fun of me the entire time. I was like a kid in a candy store, stopping to absorb the energy and emotion of every sculpture and painting. My trip made me realize one thing, that it has been 2 years too long since I’ve visited Europe. I think it’s time to plan my next trip!

As for the look, I kept it casual. I’ve been exploring an artsy aesthetic, which for me, includes elongated tops. I love the versatility of a waistcoat and have been incorporating them into various styles. I sealed the look with a pair of distressed jeans and Thursday Boots.
